Starting the family journal again

It’s been too long. I’ve been journaling on Facebook, which doesn’t feel as permanent. Back to here.

No amount of school testing prepares you for the questions you get in the real world as a parent (I’ve gotten all of these in the last five minutes):

What’s for dinner?

Where are the birth certificates?

Where’s the Nintendo charger?

What’s black & white and red all over?

Handsome Boys

End of August 2018

The Planetarium was awesome. Here we are on the outside of the sun! Whew, so hot!

We got planters and filled them with pretty flowers. (Writing this a year later is interesting. The little purple and white flowers survived the harsh winter but died summer 2019.)

July 2018

Just the three kids home with me. They enjoy the sandbox.
Happy birthday, Emma! The princess turned 6.  Grandma and Grandpa Gunn gave her a huge bag of crowns, bracelets, and earrings.
Gabriel demonstrates his spin art kit.
This was Gabriel's reaction when I said he could go to college to learn anything.
All 5 kids together again! They played cards. Everyone got along well so I had to record it.
 Awwwww

 Playing is exhausting.
Beautiful sunset to comfort me after dropping off my boys.
 Waiting eagerly for the kids

Just the Two Boys

The two boys and I enjoyed some time together. We had a fun time at the Discovery Museum.

Artificial Grass

Big pile of sand, who can resist?!

Layer of sand on top of the compact dirt (dead sod) to begin the process.
One piece at a time after work, James cut and nailed down the artificial turf pieces.

All done! No more mud and ugly dirt. Beautiful grass that doesn't use water or need mowing.
We put the leftover decomposed granite around the garden boxes.
